On the afternoon of Monday September 9th, our dear Kristopher Cortes was involved in a life-threatening traffic accident. Kris sustained severe trauma, including multiple facial bone fractures around his right eye and cheekbone, a fractured jaw, chin broken in half, a broken femur, a broken forearm and hand. He was rushed to the ER where he was first operated on to close off the laceration on his carotid artery and remove the glass and road debris. So far he has gone through 5 surgeries which include reconstructive surgery for his cheekbone and chin, and wiring for his jaw. Also orthopedic surgeries for his arm, femur and intense surgery to his right hand. In addition, he has fractured his clavicle and scapula. Kris has also endured severe trauma to 2 vertebrates which may require additional surgery later on. Right now they are being monitored very closely because any sudden movement can impact his mobility .

Kristopher’s recovery will be a long and challenging journey, requiring rehabilitation, physical therapy, and continued medical care. At this stage, he is being fed through IV fluids, as the pain and swelling prevent him from being fed by other means. He remains in intensive care, where he is under a medically induced coma with a breathing tube and ventilator.

In the weeks and months ahead, Kristopher will need continuous medical attention. His family and loved ones are standing by his side, but the financial burden is immense. We are raising funds to help cover his medical bills, rehabilitation costs, and daily living expenses as he embarks on this journey to recovery.
