About a year and three months ago, I was hospitalized and told I had end-stage heart failure, with doctors giving me only a year to live. Every day since then, I have fought to get healthier, and I am proud to say I am still here, getting stronger. Unfortunately, I have not yet received my social security disability benefits, which means I am unable to pay my rent. My landlords have now served me with a notice and a court date. I am terrified that if I lose my home and end up back on the street, my health will decline rapidly. I have come so far in beating the odds, and I am determined to keep fighting.
