Hello, and thank you for visiting my page.
My name is Kristine, I’m 33 and a healthcare professional.
I have received difficult news: I have Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, Stage IIB/IIIA (my oncologist said that this was related to possible skin involvement and the size of the tumour - 7.5cm). The treatment plan is neoadjuvant HER2+ targeted chemotherapy, then surgery, then radiation, and continued Herceptin treatment for up to a year (depending on how effective it is). I have an appointment with a breast surgeon on September 15th. I will be undergoing a double mastectomy (removal of both breasts) and likely a total hysterectomy and a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes).
I was recently informed by my supervisor that I should not accept any new therapy clients due to the potential impact of chemotherapy and cancer treatment on cognitive functioning and availability (probably about every 3 weeks or so, dependent on symptoms, since treatment is cumulative). This fundraiser is to help cover essential living expenses while I recover and care for my children over the next year.
Why I’m asking for help
Chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and continued Herceptin treatment will take a year. My cognitive functioning is already taking a hit and impacting my ability to work. I'm self-employed and as a sole provider for my children, it’s terrifying to face this without a financial safety net.
Even small donations, words of support, or sharing this campaign will make a huge difference. Your kindness will allow me to focus on my health and my children.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you.
Kristine
