Hi everyone (ESPECIALLY EDUCATORS),
I normally wouldn’t do something like this, but I’m reaching out because I truly need some support right now.
I’m currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Physical Education at Brooklyn College, working toward becoming a certified PE teacher here in New York. This is something I’ve been fully committed to, and I’ve already completed a full year of the program. I plan to be working full time come September on an Internship Certificate (allows me to work full time as a PE teacher while completing the degree).
This summer, I need to take additional classes to stay on track—but each class costs about $1,400 plus books, and the total is more than I can realistically cover on my own right now. I have managed to save some, but Im reaching out to my community to help pay for the remainder.
Because I’m in school full-time, my ability to work is limited. I’ve been doing what I can, but it hasn’t been enough to keep up with tuition and living expenses. I am currently a substitute teacher, which is not a salary job and does not include benefits.
I’m asking for help to cover my summer tuition so I can continue moving forward without falling behind. This would help me on my path to financial stability in the near future. Every contribution—no matter the amount—goes directly toward:
Tuition for summer courses
Required textbooks and materials
Becoming a teacher isn’t just a career goal for me—it’s something I’m genuinely passionate about. I want to work with students, stay active, and make a positive impact through physical education.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this would mean just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any support you can give.
The photos are of myself, classmates, and instructors at the AHPERD NYC Zone Conference in October 2025, where we learned valuable techniques for facilitating adaptive and comprehensive lessons—skills I’m excited to apply in my future classroom to make physical education more inclusive, engaging, and meaningful for all students.
Sincerely,
Kristine Viven
