Help Kristina Beat Cancer After 2 Years of Misdiagnosis

Hi, my name is Eleymis, and I’m writing this with a heart full of love and urgency for my best friend, Kristina. Through every setback, I’ve seen Kristina hold on to her faith, and now, more than ever, we believe that God will carry her through this battle. As it says in Isaiah 41:10 (NIV): "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Kristina is one of the strongest women I know — a devoted mother to her two beautiful children, Rhianna and Aramis, and a loving daughter to her incredible mother, Rosa. She’s the kind of person who shows up for everyone, even on her worst days — the friend who remembers birthdays, brings comfort during hard times, and carries the weight of others while quietly enduring her own. For nearly two years, Kristina was fighting a battle inside her body without even knowing it — a fight against cancer that went undiagnosed for far too long.

Misdiagnosed — Over and Over Again

In December 2023, Kristina was rushed to the ER with severe abdominal pain. Scans showed an unclassified fibroid mass that was never disclosed to Kristina. The doctor explained that it was likely abdominal pain from her menstrual cycle. She began experiencing sharp cramping, mysterious skin rashes, and chronic fatigue. She went to the ER twice in December 2023 for rashes and abdominal pain. Each time, doctors brushed it off as menstrual-related.

In September 2024, she followed up with her OBGYN during work hours, with extreme abdominal pain, and the gynecologist did an ultrasound and said the masses were just “cysts that would burst on their own.” Kristina even asked: “Are you sure they’re not cancerous?” The doctor reassured her that they were “normal” and sent her home again, without ordering any testing. So Kristina did what many women do — she trusted the professionals and tried to keep going. She worked. She raised her kids. She took care of her family. All while her body was silently fighting something much bigger.

A Turn for the Worse

By April 2025, the situation had become alarming. Kristina began bleeding from her rectum, losing sleep, and dropping weight rapidly. She went to a colorectal specialist, who told her she was “too young for a colonoscopy.” Instead, they gave her hemorrhoid cream and told her to follow up later.

By June, Kristina’s body had had enough.

After Kristina’s primary Dr cleared her from her routine blood work, she still felt something was off especially because the lab results revealed her liver levels were dangerously elevated. Out of instinct, on July 13th she showed the labs to a doctor she worked with, who told her immediately: “You need a hepatitis panel or abdominal ultrasound — right away.” That moment changed everything. On July 17, 2025 — just one day after her 36th birthday, she visited a new OBGYN, who took one look at her and said: “You need to go to the emergency room — now.”

The Real Diagnosis

After being admitted on June 17, and undergoing full-body scans and bloodwork, Kristina finally received the truth: She has Stage 3 ovarian cancer that has already spread to her colon, liver, spleen, diaphragm, and peritoneal lining. She was rushed into treatment. On July 21, Kristina underwent three major surgeries in one day to remove as much of the cancer as possible (14 masses removed). It was an intense, life-saving procedure. She is currently recovering — in pain, exhausted, but holding onto hope. The battle isn’t done, but we surely are on our way to recovery.

Why We Need Help

Now Kristina faces the long road of healing — including additional treatments like hormone therapy, follow-up imaging, and possibly chemotherapy in the near future. She’ll be out of work for months, and the financial pressure is already mounting.

She needs help with:

- Medical bills and co-pays not covered by insurance.

- Transportation to treatments and follow-ups (She cannot drive for a month).

- Everyday expenses — rent, food, and utilities — while she recovers.

- Support for her kids, who need their mom healthy and home.
