I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in January of this year. I've been a nurse for years, and that makes it especially hard to be the patient now. At the time I was diagnosed, my husband and I had just moved further away from our friends and family. Brett, my husband, is doing so much to take care of me during treatment, and our loved ones are doing their best to support us from a distance. We've both had to miss work during parts of my treatment, which has made it challenging to keep up with bills, especially since we've had to hire some help during my recovery so Brett could go back to work. He's a school speech therapist, who was working on contract when I got my diagnosis. Now that the school year is ending, he has a new job lined up for August, but he will be working retail until then to keep some money coming in. I'll be in weekly chemo treatments during that time, and I've already used up my PTO for the year. FMLA is holding my job for me but missing work means missing pay. We won't have as much money for necessary expenses. We're trying to raise some money to help us pay for treatment and bills. Anything you can donate will help. If you can't donate, consider sharing our fundraiser. Thank you!
