My name is Kristin, and I never imagined I would be writing something like this.
Five years ago I was diagnosed with Stage IV IBC- a rare, highly aggressive form of breast cancer that does not behave like typical cancer. From the beginning, this diagnosis forced me into a world of fast decisions, complex treatments, and learning to advocate fiercely for my life.
Over the course of this journey, I have endured chemotherapy, radiation, scans, setbacks, and moments of deep uncertainty. I've learned that surviving- and truly LIVING- with Stage IV cancer often means pursuing innovative, integrative, and personalized treatments that goes beyond what insurance will cover and quite honestly beyond the scope of standard of care doctors.
Cancer has taught me how precious life is, how powerful community can be, and how the power of prayer is as vital as the air I breathe. I am deeply grateful for every prayer, message, and act of kindness. Asking for help does not come easy, but I have learned that healing is not done alone.
If you are able to pray, share, or donate, please know that it means more than I can ever put into words. I have no idea why God set me on this path, but I will continue to take each step of this journey as an opportunity to learn and grow in my faith and in how God designed us. I am someone who deeply believes in purpose, hope, and doing everything possible to move forward, so that is exactly what this page is built to do: help us move forward with alternative care.
Update to our steps:
1/31- Our first steps are gathering tests and information that are offered only in Europe. Specific "experimental" tests are expensive and are to examine my specific cancer type with both chemo and naturopathic avenues. Can't believe that this is even a question to use data of this sort instead of just "standard of care. "
2/7- We made the decision to move forward with alternative treatments on top of the standard of care treatments that I have received this past week. We are fighting this from every possible angle. HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated and prayed for us. Every prayer and every donation is such a blessing! Ecclesiastes 4:9-10:" Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow." Thank you for being a part of our village and lifting us up! We will continue to update as we can.
