Help Kristin Allen-Farmer Fight Ultra-Rare Cancer

Donation protected
We are raising funds on behalf of my beloved wife, Kristin Allen-Farmer, in order to help fund her cancer treatment. She is the heart of our home and is a wonderful mother to our two daughters, Kiana (13) and Emma (9). We need her bright light to keep shining in our lives. Her talent, sense of humor, compassion, kindness, sense of adventure, and perception of beauty in all things is something we all need to advocate for.

In January 2024, she was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of Stage IV aggressive cancer - peritoneal mesothelioma - apparently due to asbestos exposure as a child. She underwent 3 brutal rounds of chemotherapy (each of which included 4 different chemo and immunotherapy drugs), which decimated an array of her bodily systems all at once, doing more harm than good, causing unimaginable pain and suffering for her in the process.

After the 3 rounds of chemo, the PET scan and MRI showed that the cancer was not responding to the treatment - it was still growing. The oncologist then decided to send the biopsy in for further testing. The results suggested a different, "ultra-rare" cancer - epithelioid hemangioendothelioma of the peritoneum, which affects 1 in 4 million people. The treatments she already underwent were useless and there is no standard protocol for this new type of cancer diagnosis. Kristin has sought out and relentlessly researched the brightest medical minds and has been provided care from revered top oncologists at Stanford, UC San Diego, and Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York.

The oncologists wanted to try out a drug (Pazopanib) that can sometimes stall the growth of the cancer. Kristin took this new "targeted therapy" pill for 2 months and it was terrible. She lost 30 pounds due to digestive havoc, had dangerously high blood pressure, and had to endure other side-effects such as painful mouth sores and abdominal pain. Furthermore, the PET and MRI after that drug was taken showed that it was ineffective and had severe side effects. Her oncologists had no clear path forward.

Enter Virginia Von Schaefer M.D. - an integrative oncologist in San Clemente - who has proven results with near-death cancer patients that Kristin has personally spoken with. Kristin has already begun certain treatments with Dr. V and because of them she feels better than she has since the onset of her diagnosis. Unfortunately, she can only take the treatment plan so far since certain treatments aren’t covered by insurance. (Click on the following links to explore the type of treatments she will receive at Dr. V's office: Low Dose Chemotherapy, IV Baicalein, IV Olive Leaf, Supportive Oligonucleotide Therapy).

Dr. V has had great success with addressing the root causes of dis-ease and looks at eliminating the circulating tumor cells while boosting the immune system - something that traditional cancer care ignores (which is also why people have a resurgence of cancer after remission). Using progressive treatments that are more widely accepted in European countries, Dr. V is at the forefront of cutting-edge cancer care. Unfortunately, our medical system in the USA isn't quite as progressive and these out-of-the-box treatments - especially critical with an out-of-the-box, "ultra-rare", no-protocol cancer - are not covered by insurance even though they are clearly beneficial and saves lives.

Given that Kristin is literally rarer than "one in a million", it makes sense that her treatment plan will be a bit "outside of the box". We believe that Dr. V's treatment plan is our best hope and the best way forward on Kristin's passage to recovery.

We appreciate a donation of any size to help fund this critical cause. Thank you!
