Help Kristi to walk again
Donation protected
Five weeks ago Kristi woke up and couldn't feel or move her legs. she spent five weeks in hospital whist they tried to figure out what was wrong with her. Eventually she was diagnosed with FND (Functional Neurological Disorder). in short, her brain has stopped communicating with her legs.
She has now returned home and is on a waiting list for ongoing physio / treatment, in the meantime she is totally reliant on myself and carers that come three times a day.
Kristi has been loaned a wheelchair by the hospital but unfortunately it too big to get into either the bathroom or toilet. One of yesterdays attempts resulted in her falling out of it whist trying to shuffle her body from the door frame to the toilet. She is unable to leave the house unaided as the chair wont go over the front door step. She is essentially trapped in her own body, mind and house, none of which will aid her recovery or quality of life.
I am trying to raise funds to purchase a wheelchair and supporting equipment that will allow her to have some independence and lesson the pre-existing back pain that she has already suffered with for years.
I have done some research and estimate that we can find her a good chair for about £500+ . I have set a fund raising target of £1000 so that we call also get a door ramp fitted and handrails to help her with moving from the chair to the toilet and bath. as well as little things to boost her wellbeing.
As it stands she wouldn't be able to get out of the house in the event of a fire. Her care team have been made aware of this but don't have any other equipment available to offer her at this time.
I am due to return to work next Monday and it scares the hell out of me to think of her in her house on her own.
Kristi is very independent with a passion for saving the environment / ocean. she's a qualified and highly experienced diving instructor and horse rider. she is also just starting out in setting up her own small business @apexoceans.
Her current situation is at risk of taking all of this away from her and her body and mind with it
Just having the right wheelchair and equipment to help her move about will be a massive step towards her walking / having her independence back in the future.
Please help, if you can
Thank you :-)
