Hello,
My name is Kristi Flis, I have made this gofundme with excitement and deep purpose—I’ve been given the honor of running the 130th Boston Marathon on April 20, 2026! Even more meaningful, I’ve been selected to represent Friends of Hopkinton, a Boston-based nonprofit that strengthens the community through impactful programs and initiatives. Fittingly, Hopkinton is the historic starting line of the Boston Marathon—what better way to give back than by running in support of this incredible cause?
Running has completely transformed my life. What started as a way to meet new people after moving from Pennsylvania to Florida became my greatest source of strength, connection, and purpose. Never did I imagine that the girl who once avoided the timed mile in high school (by taking an online bowling class—yes, really!) would one day proudly call herself a marathoner. Yet here I am, chasing the dream of Boston.
Boston is often called “the unicorn of all races”—elusive, magical, and inspiring runners to chase what once felt impossible. To me, it represents heart, grit, and the relentless pursuit of something greater than ourselves. In December 2024, just four months before the London Marathon, I suffered a traumatic head injury, fracturing my occipital bone. Recovery was long and challenging, but with determination and the unwavering support of family and friends, I healed, trained, and ultimately crossed the finish line in London—my fourth major marathon. That experience showed me the power of resilience and reminded me that we are capable of more than we ever imagine.
Now, I’m committing to not only running Boston but also raising $6,500 for Friends of Hopkinton. Whether it’s $5 or $500, your support will go directly toward strengthening families, building bonds, and fostering a stronger, more connected community.
Running Boston has always been a dream of mine, but this time it’s about something bigger. I can’t do it without your help.
Thank you for believing in me, this cause, and the power of showing up for one another.
With gratitude,
Kristi Flis
