I've known Kristi Orcutt for over a decade, and consider her one of the hardest working entrepreneurs in Richmond. She has consistently fought to educate the community on the most natural ways to protect our environment, from keeping bees organically and mentoring other beekeepers even when she barely has the time, to providing goats as a natural way to remove overgrowth instead of using chemicals that could leach into our waterways. She doesn't complain and doesn't ask for a handout. Most people don't even know she's cared for her special needs brother for so many years. Recently, she lost her livestock trailer to a fire. I know she'll just get back up and work harder, but Kristi never asks for a handout. She'll ask to borrow a tool so she can fix her own truck. I think it's about time Richmond has the opportunity to thank her for a lifetime of protecting our wild areas.
