Help Kristi Fight Her Recurring Cancer Journey
From Montana to Mayo—A Story of Faith, Strength, and the Power of Community
For those of you wondering where I might be over the next four months, I want to share a personal update—and humbly ask for your support.
Four years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer called granulosa cell tumor. At that time, I was fortunate. Surgery successfully removed the tumor, and I didn’t need chemo or radiation. I felt like I had dodged a bullet—and gratefully returned to my life, my family, and my work with a renewed sense of purpose.
Unfortunately, granulosa cell tumors have a tendency to return every 5 to 10 years, and mine has come back much sooner than hoped.
After many prayers and difficult decisions, I’ve begun treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona, where I’ll be for the next 4½ months. My care team here is incredible, and I know I’m in the best hands medically—but this time, the road is tougher.
Unfortunately, my insurance is out of network with Mayo and my out of network deductible is $35,000
As you can imagine, the costs of testing, treatment, travel, and being away from work are overwhelming. And as someone who has always prided herself on taking care of things independently, asking for help like this is incredibly hard for me. But I know that sometimes we have to lean on others—and I’m learning that’s okay.
I’ve created this GoFundMe to help cover some of the medical and travel expenses while I’m away from home and unable to work. If you’re able to give—whether a little or a lot—my family and I would be deeply grateful. And if you’re not in a place to give, please lift us up in prayer. Your support in any form means the world to me.
I trust fully that God never gives us a cross greater than we can bear, and I know He is walking with me every step of the way.
I plan to be back in about 4 1/2 months—ready to see my amazing patients again, to return to my community, and to live life to the absolute fullest.
Thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your love.
