Help Kristen's Dream: A Home Grooming Salon

Hey hey

My name is Kristen. I was born and raised in New Jersey and began grooming at just 16 years old in New York City. At 21, I moved to Kansas to continue building my skills, and over the years, grooming has become more than just a job it’s become my purpose, my therapy, and a major part of my healing journey.

I live with bipolar disorder, and like many who face mental health challenges, traditional work environments haven’t always been sustainable for me. But grooming gives me something I can pour my heart into. It gives me structure, connection, and the ability to care for animals who need just as much compassion as I do .my dogs ( all rescues or rehomes )they’ve played a huge role in my healing. But the reality is, caring for them is expensive and time consuming. Being able to open a home based grooming salon would not only allow me to continue supporting them properly, it would also create a much needed local option for pet owners here in Council Grove, where commuting to salons has become extremely difficult for me. This dream is about more than income it’s about creating something sustainable and healing, for both myself and the animals in my care. It’s about showing others living with mental illness that they can build something beautiful from chaos .
