Help a Physician Mom Protect Her Daughter and Fight for Justice

My name is Kristen. I’m a third-year medical student, a domestic violence survivor, and most importantly, a mom.

Three years ago, my abuser fired an AR-15 in our direction while intoxicated. My daughter and I escaped an abusive home and entered a domestic violence shelter and then the Nevada Confidential Address Program. Since then, I’ve fought for our safety in court — alone, without an attorney — while continuing my education, raising a traumatized and disabled child, and surviving repeated threats to our lives.

Despite overwhelming medical evidence, multiple police reports, and video/audio documentation, family court has continued to order visitation with my child’s abuser — even after her recent hospitalization for suicidality, PTSD, and self-harm at just 8 years old. Every provider involved in her care has urged the court to stop visitation. Instead, the judge ignored their recommendations and I am under threat of contempt if I refuse to comply with facilitating this harm.

On March 13, we narrowly avoided tragedy. While driving, I received an emergency dashboard alert instructing me to immediately shut off my engine due to a coolant system failure. The police responded. Two mechanics later confirmed that there was no mechanical leak. I was told this type of sudden coolant loss is highly unusual and suspicious for tampering. My child’s father is a master mechanic with court access to my knowing my whereabouts in the 48 hours leading up to this near-miss.

We believe this was a targeted attempt to harm us.

I’ve done everything I can. I’ve filed emergency motions, submitted overwhelming evidence of harm, and requested protection. All of which has been ignored or outright denied. I’m fighting alone and I need legal assistance. I need an attorney before our upcoming trial. I need to keep my daughter safe. I need help.
