After years of wishing and waiting and hoping and getting tangled up in every inch of red tape humanly possible, I finally get to share the best news of my life to-date: I'm scheduled to receive my vaginoplasty with the extraordinary team of Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner and Dr. Lee Zhao at NYU Langone on December 4, 2026!
This surgery is something I've dreamed about for a very, very long time; it represents utter peace, alignment, and the chance to finally feel at home in my own body. Getting here has been a marathon of both patience and persistence—navigating endless referrals, approvals, and involuntary delays—but, at long last, the finish line is in sight.
While my insurance will handle the surgery itself, it doesn't cover one of the most essential and mandatory steps beforehand—electrolysis sessions on the surgical site—and, unfortunately, they’re both extremely expensive *and* time-sensitive.
Treatments cost $157/hour, and I'll need somewhere between 30-60 before I'm cleared for surgery. That means I'm looking at a total anywhere from $4,700 to $9,400, depending on how my body responds, and I need to begin immediately to stay on track for my assigned date. So, with as much humility and hope as I can muster, I'm asking for help covering these costs.
My initial goal is to raise the median $7,000, all of which will go directly toward these sessions after GoFundMe's fees are taken out. Anyone who knows me knows just how unbearably uncomfortable I feel, having to seek crowd-funded financial assistance for medical treatment again, but it's the final step towards something I've worked so unbelievably hard for—and I can't get there alone.
Every dollar, share, or word of encouragement brings me closer to finally living fully and freely in the body that's always been mine. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for helping me reach the home stretch; I'll never, ever be able to explain just how much it means.
