Kristen’s world changed overnight.

About a month ago, she began experiencing alarming symptoms: a worsening cough, shortness of breath, extreme fatigue, and severe headaches. As her condition rapidly declined, she was urged to seek emergency medical care. Imaging revealed a significant pleural effusion, a serious buildup of fluid between the lungs and chest cavity that made breathing extremely difficult and required immediate drainage via 3 chest tube placements.

She was admitted to the hospital, where further extensive testing and biopsies led to a devastating diagnosis: papillary adenocarcinoma, a rare form of lung. This type accounts for only about 5% of lung cancers and most commonly develops in non-smoking women — making Kristen’s diagnosis especially unexpected and difficult.

Kristen is currently receiving treatment at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, where she remains hospitalized. Because she is uninsured, all of her care must be administered as an inpatient. She has already started an intensive chemotherapy regimen, and her doctors are now awaiting results from advanced genetic testing, which could lead to a targeted therapy option that may drastically improve her outcome.

We are urgently raising funds to help cover:
