Help Krista Study Elephants in Thailand
Donation protected
Krista Baris is a hardworking wife, mother, veterinary technician student, and dance teacher and choreographer; she works around the clock to better the lives of those around her. She has taken a different journey than most to becoming a student of veterinary medicine due to the life events she experienced growing up. Due to the sacrifices she was forced to make as a young adult she was unable to experience college the way that most people do; missing out on opportunities like joining clubs, traditional "college life", and study abroad programs. Despite this, she just graduated with her Veterinary Technician Associates Degree from Suffolk Community College and will be sitting for her boards in June. She also is still pursuing her bachelor's on a Pre-Veterinary Track through SUNY Farmingdale.
On a whim, to hopefully enjoy an aspect of that traditional college experience, Krista applied for a pre-veterinary study abroad program to travel to Thailand for 2 weeks in summer 2025 to study and participate in the medical treatment of elephants at an elephant sanctuary. Unexpectedly, Krista was accepted to the program! She is beyond excited for the opportunity to experience such a unique culture and work with one of the world's most wonderous creatures.
This program is not free and unfortunately Krista has not received any grants and therefore she must fund the trip on her own. This is where you come in! This trip will cost Krista about $6,000, an amount that we don't have directly at our disposal. Through the use of clever financing we are sending Krista on this once in a life opportunity. With your help, I hope we may offset some of the cost of this trip so this very deserving woman can experience this trip without as high of a financial burden to follow. We appreciate any and all contributions, no amount is too small to help us reach our goal!
This fundraiser is a SURPRISE for Krista and she has no idea I have arranged this. Krista is a humble hard worker and would NEVER willingly ask for help with something like this (and probably would reject the help if I didn't arrange it) but, those that know her understand that she deserves this. As a graduation gift and show of support for Krista's veterinary dreams, please help me make this life changing experience come true for someone looking to make a huge difference in the world, starting with some huge animals!
