Hello Friends and Family.
As some of you may already know, my mother Kris Pierotti was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma in July 2015. She worked with a wonderful team of doctors and nurses at the University of Iowa, who had to remove her eye. After the surgery, she was on the road to recovery, getting adjusted to life having vision in only one eye. Although there were a few bumps along the way, she eventually got her prosthetic eye, which really allowed her to start her mental and emotional recovery. (The picture above is my lovely Momma with her prosthetic eye!)
Last September she had her post-op cancer scan, and unfortunately the cancer was found to have spread. A CT scan revealed several nodes and lesions on the left lobe of her liver. After a biopsy, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastasised Ocular Melanoma.
This was completely unexpected and floored all of us. My mother was on the road to recovery, feeling great… and now this.
Since her last diagnosis, Kris has started chemo, going every other week. She had to leave her job and started the process of getting social security benefits. As you may know, this is a lengthy process which can take months. My mother has lived in her house for 29 years, and would very much like to remain there. Between waiting for social security and the mounting medical bills, she could really use your help right now.
Thank you all for your support!
God Bless <3
