Hi! My name is Krissa and I was diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer (high-grade serous carcinoma) at the age of 28. Despite being told about the 15% survival rate with an average life span of 3-5 years after diagnosis, I have stayed optimistic. However, the situation has not only been physically and emotionally draining but also financially.
With great plans for 2022, I just moved to a bigger and unfurnished place last January (i.e. had to pay bond and purchase essential furniture/appliances), leaving me with no savings. Only to shockingly find out in the same month (after getting COVID-19 and 3 separate trips to the emergency department) that I have cancer and urgently need to undergo treatments.
Due to my intensive weekly chemotherapies, I have been unable to work since February. If next week’s scans show that tumors have shrunk enough, I will undergo major surgery in May and further chemotherapies afterwards. This means I won’t be back in the workforce anytime soon. Unfortunately, my income protection insurance can’t pay me any benefits until a very later time.
I have given it a lot of thought and it was not an easy decision. But people who have been asking how they can help gave me the courage to create this page. At this point, I have already exhausted any financial support I have received from family and friends. I am humbly asking for financial help to assist me in paying for outpatient medicines, transportation to and from the hospital, groceries, rent and household bills.
Any donation, no matter how much, is incredibly valuable and hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for your support.
Many thanks,
Krissa
