Help Kriss get her health back!

Hi! My name is KyLee and I am the daughter of Kriss Carter. As some of you may or may not know my mom has faced many challenges with her declining health over the years. Kriss has been diagnosed with COPD Emphysema, Chronic Pancreatitis with Acute Flares, Cysts in the tail and necrotic tissue, and 3 spots on her lungs that have now grown. She has endured constant testing and misdiagnoses by multiple incapable doctors in the area. Local doctors are not working together and it’s been a year and Kriss still does not have either a pancreatic specialist or pulmonary and her gastric bypass complicates conditions. The doctors here have not been able to deal with the numerous issues and have hit a wall of confusion as to how to treat her. We have found a specialist in Dr. Benzo at Mayo Clinic who is willing to take her on as a patient, which is a god send considering Kriss has yet to receive the correct medical help she needs. Dr. Benzo also can do the latest surgery which involves removing her pancreas and taking the inslets out and putting them in the liver so her liver can do the job of the pancreas too. They will begin testing to see if she meet the requirements to receive the inlets procedure.

 

Costs are completely unknown until they see what they can do but they have told us to be prepared to pay all deductibles and out of pocket expenses. They said between $2500-$5000 depending on what they decide and what insurance ends up covering. Any left over costs will be used to cover unexpected expenses as Dr. Benzo is located out of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and Kriss will have to pay out of pocket for room and board for her animals, hotels, food, and a car rental.

 

I am asking for any help you all are willing to give to ensure my mom can receive the best help possible and live a long healthy life. It has been hard for all of us to see the constant decline in her health and there are no longer any options in Michigan that are reassuring in providing her with ample care.
