Hello everyone,

My name is Ina, and I'm writing with a heart full of care, hope, and worry.

In January, my husband Kris was diagnosed with kidney cancer, and our lives changed overnight. After exhausting major truck repairs at the end of last year, he was finally ready to get back on the road.

He was full of energy, hope, and determination because being behind the wheel, doing the work he loves, is where he feels alive, at his best, and part of something bigger – serving society and helping others every day. But instead of a fresh start, everything stopped.

What began as unusual fatigue led to multiple urgent care visits, each time leaving us reassured that nothing serious was wrong… until mid-January, when we received the devastating diagnosis. Then came even more challenges. After a wrongly performed biopsy, Kris was rushed to the emergency room with a 20 cm hematoma, sepsis, and unbearable pain.

There were moments when we weren’t sure he would survive. He is still here. He is fighting. And we are holding on to hope.

Now we are at the very beginning of a long and uncertain treatment journey. Kris needs constant, 24/7 care, and I am by his side every moment. I am doing everything I can—but I am overwhelmed. I am not only his full-time caregiver but also a cancer survivor myself, and just two weeks ago, I lost my mother.

These months are going to be crucial, both emotionally and financially. With his treatment just beginning, we are asking for help to cover our living and medical-related expenses, so we can focus entirely on his recovery.

Kris has one goal, and it is simple but everything to us: to regain his strength, to recover, and to return to the life he loves—on the road, doing what makes him feel alive, useful, and connected to the world. This can happen to anyone. It doesn’t ask who you are, where you’re from, or what you believe. But in moments like this, no matter our differences, we all hold on to the same thing—hope. We all believe, in our own way, in miracles.
