Help Kovu Fight Protein Losing Enteropathy

On 4/20/25, Kovu was diagnosed with PLE,

Protein Losing Enteropathy,

a condition where the body excessively loses proteins, particularly albumin, through the intestines.

Sweet Kovu has been incredibly sick, mostly fighting diarrhea and edema. He’s lost his pep and we are scared because his symptoms are persistent.

Originally, his albumin levels were below one and the emergency vet thought he would need multiple transfusions to get him up to par; however, the vet didn’t want to quote us on it because of how expensive it would be. We are currently trying some medications to help with the symptoms, but we don’t know what is causing the PLE yet. We have already had multiple emergency vet visits, lots of blood work, meds, and diet restrictions. We don’t know what the road ahead looks like for him, but we are doing everything we can to help him get what he needs. We hope that cost won’t be the reason we can’t get Kovu back to his happy, healthy self.
