Help Kovu Battle Heart Disease and Lung Cancer
Donation protected

Kovu was rescued from Fayette County Animal Shelter in December of 2015. He was estimated to be around 2 years old. After almost 10 years together, we have come to a major fork in the road. October has been a rough month for us. We first noticed Kovu began coughing frequently and then randomly had a syncope episode (fainted) shortly after. Since the beginning of October he has had 3 syncope episodes and after regular vet visits and ER visits, i have gotten more information about his illness.
Monday, October 28th, Kovu unfortunately was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Disease. Through x-rays and echocardiograms, we have also found masses on his lungs which leads us to suspected pulmonary cancer.
Currently, Kovu is on 3 prescribed medications, but further treatment is needed. His oncologist is strongly requesting a CT scan as well as FNA (fine needle aspiration) to get a closer look at the cancer so we can determine what steps to take next. She would also like Kovu to get fitted for a holter monitor which will record the electronic activity of his heart to detect any arrhythmia alongside his stage 5 heart murmur.
Unfortunately, We have used our savings to get this far. I know that the expenses of cancer and chemotherapy, not to mention heart disease, are much more than we are prepared for. The CT scan and FNA alone are estimated to be around 6,000. Our goal of 15,000 is aimed to help us cover this, plus any additional expenses we would need— surgery, holter monitor, medications, chemotherapy, further testing, etc.
If you have a fur baby or have ever had one before, you know the amount of love that we as owners have for them is so immense. My partner and I have such heavy hearts during this time as we try to do what’s best for our beloved pup and help him through this very unsure and difficult time. Our family is absolutely not ready to give up on our sweet baby and neither is he!
Right now, we are asking our friends and family for help financially so that we may do what we deem is necessary in this process. Our hope is that we can eliminate any pain or discomfort while we help him maintain the rest of his time with us. If you choose to donate, know that we are extremely grateful for your contribution. Nothing is too small. We also appreciate any emotional support from those who are not able to donate. Please be sure to share this so that it may reach more people. Other methods of donating are through Cashapp $sang26 or Venmo @ gomez726 and Zelle is also available !
Thank you to everyone who took the time to read this. Please feel free to reach out if there are any questions.
