Every parents worst nightmare is a tragic accident that threatens their Childs life, and changes everything in an instant. This was the McDonalds reality on January 2 2022. Kove their youngest son age 5 caught on fire after an unexpected explosion from a burn pile Kove was next to.

Kove suffered sever 3rd degree burns all over his torso, chest, arm, hand, and chin. Kove was life flighted in the burn victims plane to Shriners where he has undergone major skin grafting surgery. These procedures come with serious risk and potential complications. At this time it is unknown if additional surgeries will be needed. Kove is expected to be at Shriners for at least a month for recovery/Physical therapy if all goes well. Koves parents Kelly and Martin McDonald are staying strong and positive while constantly being at Koves side. This means that the McDonalds are far away from home and there oldest son Cedar. Martin and Kelly are both self employed, Martin is a chiropractor and Kelly is a hairdresser in Chico. With neither of them able to work at this time it will put a huge financial burden on them, however bills still need to be paid along with medical expenses, as well as the expense of not being home and traveling back and forth over the next month.

With this go fund me we are hoping to help lift the many financial burdens during an already unimaginable stressful time so that the family can and focus on healing and being there for Kove. Funds would go towards medical expenses, ongoing care not covered by insurance, living expenses, gas, food, and any other unexpected expenses at this time.

If you know the McDonalds or Kove, you know what an special kid he is. So energetic, always wanting to be doing things outdoors, just a happy busy bodied kid. Kove has been very strong through this scary time in his young life.
