My name is Terry Heaton. I live in Huntsville, Alabama.

My personal approach to charity is that I can’t help everybody, but I can at least help one. I’ve done this in the past with my friend Danielle, who was serving time in a Federal prison. Hence, let me present the desperate needs of Kortnie in the hopes that you will be moved to help. I have been helping her with charity for the past 5-years.

Kortnie is a woman who lives in a small town in rural northwest Alabama. She’s one of those people who has fallen through life’s cracks. Her biggest problem is her health. She has uncontrolled diabetes, because she can’t afford insulin and syringes. She reuses syringes, and has no way of monitoring her blood sugar, so she’s come up with ways to use insulin based on how she feels. It’s very dangerous, but she has no choice. She’s a regular inpatient at a nearby hospital, for her diabetes is simply out of control.

As a result, her teeth have rotted from the inside-out from the high sugar levels in her blood, and she’s in constant pain from all the abscesses. She is just miserable, which is why I have created this GoFundMe. I’m trying to raise life-changing money for her, in the hopes of stabilizing her diabetes, so that she can begin the process of becoming self-sufficient. Her driver’s license has been taken from her by the state for failure to appear at hearings. She had no way of making court appearances, so her fines alone total almost $1,500. She’s in a hole that she cannot climb out of without outside help.

Kortnie defines the term indigent, and the only thing she can do for work is to babysit her sister’s children for free. She has NO source of income and a family that can only help her occasionally, for they have their own financial problems.
