Hello, there. I’m writing on behalf of my dear friend, a Black and Indigenous creator, Korie Griggs. She has dedicated years of her life to helping others heal through seasons of loss and transition. As long as I have known her, Korie has been the first person to show up when our community is in need. Now, Korie needs the kind of community care she has helped provide to countless others.

Korie recently inherited her childhood home, after multiple family members transitioned from this life. While it has been a space full of memory, creativity, and love - the furnace and AC unit urgently need to be replaced. The total cost is $20,409.65 (Separately, the gas line to the furnace needs to be fixed and will cost between $2,700 - $6,700). Without community support, financing would nearly double that amount with interest and over years, totaling well over $50,000.

Her home isn’t just a place to live, it’s the heart of Korie’s writing and care work. She has been using it as a grounding space for collective healing, grief support, and community care.

Cost of living (including homeownership) is increasingly becoming more unattainable - especially for Black and Indigenous people, and many, many people are struggling with housing stability. While Korie has done a lot of community care, that isn’t why she deserves to keep her home (warm). Everyone deserves housing. Everyone deserves to have their needs met.
