Help Kora Walk Again: Please Support Her Surgery

Hi, our names are Amber and Ashley, and we are pet owners to two adorable doggies, Kora and Dooley. Our two dogs are our fur babies; we would do anything and everything for them so that they can live the best life possible. Given this, we are hoping to receive some help with a major unexpected medical emergency that has occurred this week with our one fur baby, Kora. 

Earlier this week, our beloved Kora began showing us signs that she was in pain. She was having difficulty walking, would not eat, and would stay on the couch all day. Shortly thereafter, she started experiencing partial paralysis in her back legs. Kora was not able to move her back legs at all (even with assistance), causing her to scoot herself on the floor whenever she attempted to walk. Becoming very concerned with her condition, we rushed her to our family vet, who believed Kora had either a spinal cord injury or a tumor growing on her spine. Our primary vet then referred us to an emergency vet hospital with a neurologist who could perform the necessary tests that needed to be done to determine Kora’s prognosis. 

The following morning, the emergency vet hospital was able to squeeze Kora in for an exam with one of their neurologists. After examining Kora and conducting a pinch test to see the severity of Kora’s paralysis, the neurologist concluded that he believed Kora had a herniated disc and highly recommended a CT scan and surgery. The CT scan confirmed the doctors suspicion: Kora had not one, but two herniated discs. She was then rushed into emergency spinal surgery as the procedure was her only chance at potentially regaining mobility of her back legs so that she can continue to live a happy and healthy life with her brother, Dooley.  

Unfortunately, the medical vet bills for Kora’s spinal surgery are astronomically high, with the surgery costing $10,000; it is going to be extremely difficult for us to cover the medical costs as we do not have the necessary income to support it.
