Kona, my brother’s two-year-old dog, has always been full of life and joy. She’s happiest when she’s playing, and she’s brought so much happiness to our family, especially during difficult times. Recently, while at daycare, Kona and another dog managed to get out while playing, and she was hit by a car.
The accident left Kona with four fractures in her pelvis. She underwent a seven-hour surgery, and we’re incredibly grateful that her injuries were operable and that her prognosis is optimistic. However, her recovery will be long and challenging. Over the next 6+ months, Kona will need ongoing care, including medications, follow-up visits, and physical therapy as she works to regain her strength and learn to walk again.
Kona has been such an important part of our family these past few years. She’s brought us comfort and joy, especially during a time when we were coping with the hospitalization and loss of a loved one this last year. The cost of her care has been significant, and we’re raising funds to help support my brother and sister-in-law as they take on these unexpected medical expenses and focus on helping Kona heal. Any support—whether that’s a donation or sharing this page—means a lot to our family. Thank you for supporting Kona Bear. We’ll keep everyone updated as she continues to recover.
