HELP KOMAS GET A CAMERA LENS
Donation protected
Hello dear friends and family..
My name is Jan Allain, I'm a retired teacher of arts and a singer-songwriter, based in Brighton.
I'm running a Crowd Funding Campaign to support a very dear young friend called Komas. Komas and his Kurdish family moved into my road in 2018 and we have been good friends since.
Komas, now age 15, has had a challenging start to his life. He started school when he was nine years old and has had health setbacks, but with special support and guidance, is showing great promise as an artist and photographer. I have supported him with his art and photography for several years. His achievements are:
- A wonderful exhibition of his paintings in Brighton. The sale of his art works enabled him to get a computer and open a website.
- With the computer he taught himself online, to understand and use cameras.
- His amazing website WWW.KOZMOART.COM opened thanks to a friend, David Christman, who gave Komas his first camera.
- Komas was awarded a 'Rise Bursary' for youth art, from Artswork Charity. His award paid for further photography materials. Here's what Artswork said about him:
"Artswork were incredibly impressed by the quality of the work Komas has produced and thoroughly enjoyed hearing how he had used the bursary. We look forward to seeing more from Komas in the future!"
- He completed a Sussex University Photography course online.
- He has been a keen school photographer for several years using drones and digital cameras.
Komas has just left school and will start college in September. He is looking forward to photography, film and computer studies. In order to help him continue with his photography passion his relatives gifted him a brilliant digital camera (body) last year.
Now he needs a good versatile lens.
This will enable him to take photographs at the high level he is capable of and to learn as much as possible about digital photography, film making and editing - which he hopes to make a future career in.
His parents are very encouraging and proud of him but they are not in a position to fund the equipment he needs.
Your donations will fund a camera lens, the insurance for it and any accessories needed i.e.: good camera bag, lens cleaner etc.
Please go to www.kozmoart.com to see Komas's artworks and photos.
Unfortunately Gofundme does not allow perks, rewards or gifts for donating. However all of his artwork is available to buy on his website. All proceeds will go to this cause.
Both Komas and I would be deeply grateful for any donations you are able to offer to this fundraiser, and sharing this page would also be a huge help to our campaign.
Thank you
Blue Skies!
Jan Allain

ARTSWORK RISE BURSARIES 2023-24
Artswork launched ‘RISE’ bursaries in October 2023 for young people aged between
13-25. Over 50 young people applied for the bursary and 21 people were awarded a bursary.
Komas Ako was awarded a bursary. He was one of the younger recipients and his work really stood out. Komas made a compelling application for the bursary and was selected because he demonstrated it could make a real difference to his creative
practice.
Komas made excellent use of the bursary, purchasing professional digital and photographic equipment and software, enabling him to develop new skills and explore new techniques enhanced by high quality equipment. He also used some of the bursary to pay for a website, enabling him to share his work with others which he reported has helped him build self-confidence and he is now planning a new 2025 exhibition of his work.
Artswork were incredibly impressed by the quality of the work Komas has produced and thoroughly enjoyed hearing how he had used the bursary. We look forward to seeing more from Komas in the future!
