Komang Adi Wiguna is a 14-year-old student from the village of Tampaksiring in Bali, Indonesia. He is currently in 8th grade, working hard and showing up each day with the same determination as any child — but unlike many of us, his ability to continue his education is uncertain. For Komang, school is not guaranteed. His family is facing financial hardship, and without support, he may be forced to leave school early to help at home. It’s a reality that quietly affects many children — not a lack of ambition or effort, but a lack of resources.

I was introduced to Komang through Education Rocks, an organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty through education. After learning his story, I made the commitment to sponsor him — because no child’s future should be limited by circumstances beyond their control. What has made this experience especially meaningful is the personal connection we are building. Through the program, Komang and I exchange letters, allowing us to learn about each other’s lives, cultures, and perspectives. What began as a sponsorship has grown into a genuine and meaningful friendship — one that reminds me that this impact is not abstract, but deeply human.
