My name Is Kolby, I am married to my high school sweetheart, and we have a son and daughter together. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus (KC), a progressive condition that affects the shape and strength of the corneas in my eyes. As a result, I have surgery scheduled for my right eye on July 6, 2026, and my left eye will need surgery later this year. Even after insurance, the cost for both procedures is a significant expense for my family. This not only impacts my ability to work and drive but also adds to the financial strain my family is experiencing right now.
The surgeries are crucial; they will help strengthen my corneas, improve my vision, and reduce my light sensitivity. I am so grateful for everyone’s kindness and support as my family and I process and go through all of this. Your help means the world to us, and any support you can offer will make a real difference in our lives.
In 2010 and 2011, I fought and survived Ulcerative Colitis and IBD in my early twenties after having my second child. I was hospitalized several times and in the ICU and had several emergency surgeries and live with an invisible disability and use medical supplies that ultimately saved my life. After my last surgery in November 2011, the doctors gave me a 20% chance of survival. I am so grateful to be alive! I get to be a wife and mom and to see my son and daughter grow up. I went on and graduated from GCU with my Masters Degree in Education in 2021 and have worked as an Infant Toddler teacher, nanny while completing my Bachelor’s Degree and in Human Services for many years.
It takes a lot of courage and strength to be so vulnerable and ask for help from others. Thank you for your empathy and compassion. I hope I can help and inspire others to keep going, work hard and to spread love and kindness.
