Help Kokua Martha Holman (Marz)

On behalf of Martha Holman (Marz) I am asking for your kokua to give her a chance to start again. On June 3rd, 2018 a fast moving lava flow consumed everything in its path. Her house in vacationland and her land in Kapoho were completely covered in 24 hours. Never could we imagine this would happen and happen so swiftly. She was awakened at 1:30am and told to leave immediately. She barely got out with a few minor possessions and her beloved cat, Champs, and her service dog, Bug.
Marz moved to Kapoho in 1989 and has resided in the vacationland neighborhood for almost 30 years. She is a steward of the land, an amazing and extraordinary artist, lover of all plants, and continues to create beauty and wonder in everything she touches. Her love of vacationland and the wai'opai tide pools is fierce. The ocean is her second home. Most of the time she is picking up beach debris and recycling it or making it into ocean art, which is a signature of Marz. She is a beloved community member, generously donating her time to many worthy causes. If anyone needs help she is always there. She has been for me countless times.
Unfortunately, she recently borrowed money to pay off her land taxes (she did not have insurance). Destitute and in debt big time, Marz has been staying on a friend’s lanai, and being the trooper she is, has been volunteering in Pahoa helping others displaced by this disaster. She has tried to remain positive with her Pollyanna attitude, but as time goes on it is taking a toll on her physically and mentally. I told her I wanted to set up a gofundme page in her name and she was reluctant, because she thought she didn’t need any help. That other people were worse off than her. That is how humble she is. I pushed and finally convinced her to let me handle it. I have known Marz for 27 years. She is strong willed, generous, incredibly creative, kind hearted, and would do anything to help anybody in need. She is not only my good friend, she is also my family. That is why I am sincerely asking for any help you can give to get her back on her feet again. Please kokua Marz. Mahalo Nui Loa.
