Kodiak is a nearly 16-year-old pom-chi, full of love for everyone and endless sass. Despite his greying muzzle, you would guess his age! He’s spunky, spry, outgoing, lovable, and most importantly: my absolute best friend since the age of 12. I’m nearly 28.

Over the last year, we’ve noticed an increase in thirst and urination to the point he wouldn’t be able to sleep through the night without needing to go outside.

During his last senior bloodwork panel in October, the vet noted an increase in calcium - and long story short: Kodiak had a benign growth on the side of his thyroid that is messing with his hormones. We planned the seemingly simple procedure, but to our surprise this minor medical treatment has turned into our worst nightmare.

This GoFundMe is to help pay for the cost of Kodis now surmounting vet bills after unpredictable complications following his procedure.

Intubation, supplemental oxygen, steroids, imaging, overnight vet stays… it keeps growing. We don’t have straight answers and are just doing whatever we can to get him to heal.

Yes he is a senior dog, but this little guy has gotta live as long as humanely possible. After being born under my parents bed on Valentines Day of 2010, Kodiak has been my heart and soul for the last nearly 16 years and our journey isn’t even near being done. He’s been through every major life event with me, travelled 7 US states, visited 8 National Parks, and countless hikes and adventures. We just got back from 10 days in Central California where he hiked and sniffed to his hearts content. We’d like to continue to give him that life if we can.
