Help Koda's Fight Against Prostate Cancer

My name is Becca Garvin. I am raising money for chemotherapy for my dog, Koda, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer nearly a year ago. I have taken every measure to continue the treatments but after ten months I am struggling to continue paying for them (detailed expense information included at the end of this for context). I also lost my job on April 29th, which makes the hurdle to afford them bigger at this time.

I adopted Koda at 6 weeks old, and 10 years later he is my best friend. We have been through many ups and downs together and as cliche as it may sound, while I “rescued” him, he has really been the one to rescue me on numerous occasions.

When Koda was diagnosed I was told the cancer was incurable and to prepare for as little as a month left with him. Thanks to amazing specialists, radiation, chemotherapy and stubborn personality (some might say he takes after his mom), he's still his goofy, hyper self 10 months later. The doctors are amazed at his response to treatment; although the tumor hasn't disappeared, it has miraculously shrunk. Grateful is an understatement! His brother Diesel is quite jealous of the attention he is getting, as he has made clear by a new determination to chew up my world. (It is admittedly hilarious to watch on the dog camera).

For financial context: Cost of chemo treatments: $900-1000/month. Chemotherapy is administered every other week, and each visit currently costs on average $400-500 per visit. (The price difference is due to the regular blood checks they do to ensure his body and organs are still accepting the treatments). He also takes daily medication to keep symptoms (swelling) down. Those amount to $100/month. Radiation: $10K

I am committed to doing whatever I can to keep his treatments going and at this point that includes asking for support. The deal I made with myself and with him is: I will do anything and everything I can, until the day his quality of life declines. That point has not come, and I am so grateful.
