Koda is my sweet, hyper dog who has been my emotional support through a tough time. I got her when she was just 9 weeks old, and we’ve been inseparable for the past 8 months. She’s always been full of energy, so seeing her suddenly sleep all day and lose interest in everything has been heartbreaking.
On Sunday night, Koda went to bed perfectly fine, but by the next morning, she was a completely different dog. She was shivering in pain, barely eating, and didn’t want to go outside. At first, I was terrified she might be having seizures, but it turned out she was just in a lot of pain. Watching her go from her usual playful self to barely moving has been so hard.
Koda needs an MRI and a spinal tap at Auburn to find out what’s causing her meningitis. The MRI will show how inflamed her brain and spinal cord are, so the vets know exactly where to do the spinal tap. Doing the spinal tap without the MRI is risky. The spinal tap will help us figure out what kind of meningitis she has, and if it’s steroid responsive, she’ll need treatment for a few months. These tests and treatments are essential for her recovery, but the costs are overwhelming.
Koda has been my rock through some of the hardest times in my life, and I just want to give her the best chance to get better. Any support you can give means the world to both of us. Thank you so much for helping Koda get the care she needs.
