Meet Koda. Koda is not just a dog to us — he is truly a member of our family and one of the most loving, gentle souls we have ever known. Anyone who has met Koda knows how special he is. He has the biggest heart, the sweetest personality, and a way of making everyone around him smile. Koda brings so much love and comfort into our home every single day. He has an incredible ability to sense when someone needs him. One person he has a particularly special bond with is our uncle, who we care for and who lives with dementia. Koda sits with him, keeps him company, and brings him calm and happiness during moments that can otherwise be confusing and difficult. Watching that bond between them is something truly beautiful.

Recently, our world was turned upside down when Koda was diagnosed with thyroid carcinoma, a form of cancer. Hearing those words was heartbreaking. Our sweet boy now faces a difficult journey that will require radiation and chemotherapy treatments in hopes of fighting this disease and giving him the chance to keep living the life he deserves. Over the past few days, Koda has also been struggling with his appetite, which has been very concerning for us. We are currently running blood work and additional tests to understand what is going on and to help the veterinarians determine the best path forward for his care.

We love Koda more than words can express, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help him fight this. Unfortunately, the cost of diagnostics, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and ongoing medical care is incredibly high. That’s why we are reaching out for help.
