Late last night Kayla, Kobey’s mom (my daughter),  got home from work and took Kobey outside.   A crazy driver came flying down their road and hit him!  The driver didn’t stop just kept on going.  

Luckily Kayla was able to get Kobey to the Veterinary Health Center Emergency and Critical Care Center at the University of Missouri.  He lost a lot of blood, needed IV infusions, XRays, and a CT Scan. 

He has a mild concussion and it looks like he has nerve damage in the nerve on his spine going to his shoulder which could be just pinched off from swelling or build up of blood.  He has cuts and scrapes but he’s looking better.  

Right now he is resting with a morphine drip and IV fluids. His hip is out of place so they are going to do surgery to reconnect the ligament tomorrow. They are also going to make sure his stomach isn't bleeding anymore. 

Kobey’s medical bills will be expensive with all he has going on.  Kayla is a dedicated correctional officer who works hard and does a lot of volunteering to help the community.  As we all know correctional officers aren’t paid as much as they are deserving.  Any and all (no amount is too little) help is GREATLY appreciated!  

We will post Kobey’s medical bills as they come in and keep everyone updated on his progress.  Any money in excess of his medical bills will be given to a rescue shelter.
