First of all, I want to thank you for clicking my link and I want to share my predicament. My name is Kninti (nin-tee) I am 100% committed to Tuskegee University with the major of architecture, however, I did not realize that FAFSA and my merit scholarship would only make a small dent in the total cost of attendance per year. I come from a severely low-income family where both my father and mother are chronically disabled which has caused financial stress. My father used to be the sole breadwinner while my mother stayed at home to care for us due to her rare condition, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which caused her to not be able to work traditionally. In 2011 my father suffered from a massive stroke causing him to be partially paralyzed refraining him for work as well, and in 2022 he had another stroke. In 2022 I also began working at a local store in hopes to help my family financially and to possibly obtain educational benefits, but I have recently learned that those benefits are subject to specific majors. I want to earn a degree in architecture since it has been my lifelong goal and as I've gotten older, I've learned that architecture is a necessary field with a limited amount of diversity and ecologically sound aspects. I've learned that buildings contribute to a large portion of pollution, and I plan to combat that by designing structures sustainably using less harmful materials and building practices. The first step in doing this is getting an accredited college degree. I am asking that you contribute however much you are able to as I am very grateful for any and all help. Once again, thank you and have a great rest of your day.
P.S. The photo above is a collage of different construction projects I have worked on during my time doing dual enrollment.
