Medical Funds for Klay W

This page has been created by the immediate family of Klayton White.  On the afternoon of June 8th Klay was riding his motorcycle in Monticello, Arkansas. He had just got his licence, tags, plates and insurance that morning. After stopping for a visit with his friend at work, Klay lost control in a curve and collided head on with another vehicle @ 50 MPH. He saw the car coming and had the presence of mind to stand up on the bike before the impact and was thrown from his motorcycle 60 feet from the point of impact, sustaining severe injuries to his right leg. The doctors believe standing up actually saved his life because had he not stood up, his chest and head would have been hit by the car rather than his legs. His right arm has a big gash and will require skin grafts. The muscles in his right leg and arms are also damaged. He will require multiple surgeries & it will be some time before Klay can work again. He may walk with a limp & there may be some nerve damage in the hand and foot. The awesome nurses and doctors at UAMS are working their hardest to prevent infection and save his leg, but he still faces possible amputation at the hip. He is undergoing multiple surgeries over the next several weeks and will have a long road of recovery. We are fortunate and grateful that he hasn't sustained any injuries to his neck or head area. He does have some blood in his lungs, but they have placed a chest tube in to relieve that. Klay is 27 years old and and is head strong enough to overcome this. He is already yearning to go back to work! Klay is rich in his soul and mind and has much support from friends and family. We are only asking the people who have the funds to donate. If you are not in the position to donate, we only ask you to share and spread the word! We will post updates on his progress when we are able. The driver of the other vehicle is from what we have heard in physically good condition but is shaken up from the accident, so keep her in your prayers as well! Thank you so very much and continue praying for strength, bravery, and guidance for Klay, our family, and his medical team at UAMS!! He has 10 surgeons working with his case & we ask that prayers & thoughts be said for Dr. Regis Renard, Klay’s Ortho trauma surgeon.
