Klaus was recently diagnosed with two CCL tears in both of his hind legs. This will require him to have 2 TPLO surgeries; first surgery on his back left leg which is the worst (he can barley put any weight on it at all), followed by 2/3 months of rehab, & then surgery on his back right leg, followed by another 2/3 months of rehab.

TPLO surgery is quite expensive, & has doubled in cost over the last 3 years. I have spent the past month doing everything I can to try to cover the cost of both surgeries, by applying for every grant I possibly could qualify for because of my own medical situation. Unfortunately, of the 10+ I have applied for, I have only received 1 grant for $250. Many of the grants I have applied for do not cover TPLO surgery, as it’s become so common.

Klaus is the absolute BEST Husky ANY person could ask for. He IS AMAZING with children, does not howl (unless you howl with him), he’s not hyper, has never torn things up. He is ALWAYS up for a hike, a swim, an adventure to go exploring or to one of his favorite stores - pet stores & human stores alike. He absolutely LOVES the winter & seeing him not be able to enjoy his favorite time of year is heartbreaking. He would be outside in 10° weather if he could, & if it’s a snowstorm, even better! And in the summer, when it’s not his weather, he’ll go with you to the lake to swim, then people watch & enjoy the sunset after.

Klaus’s first surgery is scheduled for January 30th, as he has progressively gotten a lot worse over the past few weeks. The estimate for his first surgery is $4258.64; so the estimated total cost for both surgeries is $8517.28. He has already had multiple vet appointments, & has been on 3 different medications since November. He will require additional vet visits, continued prescriptions, & possible additional rehabilitation at a facility, who charges $355 for just the initial consultation.
