Hi,

My name is Vanya Kajaria and I'm a 7th Grader at Heritage Middle School in Livingston, NJ and I am trying my best to raise funds for Paula and Cleto.

We have known Paula for over a decade as a very hard working person. No matter how much work she has, she does it singing and whistling.

Cleto, her husband, is a heart patient with a pacemaker. He too has been very helpful with his handyman skills around appliances and cabinets and fixing anything around the house. We have seen them taking all challenges of their lives with a smile on their face.

Their lives recently have been turned upside down and they need help. On the evening of July 1st, 2021, they were at a friend's house and on his way out, Cleto fell down the front door steps. Nothing would be normal after this. He was rushed into emergency surgery where they discovered he had broken his neck and fractured his nose. He was not stable after the surgery for a while and had been put on a ventilator. By some miracle he slowly got better.

He was in the hospital for 1.5 months and then moved to Kesslers Rehabilitation Center in West Orange, NJ. Kesslers is one of the best Rehab facilities and he was getting physical therapy everyday. After three weeks his body movements were restricted to his neck and above. Other than his head, his whole body is unresponsive, paralyzed.

Since the insurance won't cover anymore of this Rehab, Cleto was moved back home. Paula now has to take full time care of him and quit working. Cleto is now in a wheelchair operated by his mouth. With his wheelchair coming home more problems arise. Paula is currently making their home accessible for him. Simple things you wouldn't think about are becoming concerns for her... “Can his wheelchair fit through the doorway", "How will he go up and down stairs?” and, "How am I supposed to pay for this..."

That last question brings us to this post. Paula NEEDS help. No amount is too small and would really help immensely. Please keep them in your prayers.
