Help Kjetland's Recover From House Fire

Donation protected
On Monday 12/2/19,  just 23 days before Christmas, the Kjetland  family was woken up during the night to discover their home was on fire.  Thankfully, their 5 year old son Edward, Chris (CJ) and Stephanie escaped unharmed, while the fire rapidly engulfed their home in smoke and flames.  There was no time to grab items - it is a devastating loss of the home and its contents.   They literally escaped with their PJ's on, they have lost everything. We are heartbroken over this tragedy, despite the heroic efforts of the firefighters and citizens who have assisted where they could.  With the tremendous costs of rebuilding ahead, we hope that this fund will help alleviate some of the burden of replacing their wardrobe before the cold sets in, possibly some Christmas presents for their 5 year old son, and later household necessities.  Monetary support cannot replace all that they have lost, but could at least provide necessities through this horrific transition.  The Kjetland family have often helped others when times were rough.  Please help with whatever you can.

THE EVENT:

Early on a freezing cold Monday morning, December 2nd, Steph Kjetland was taking a hot relaxing bath trying to cure a bout of insomnia, she had no idea that bath may save her family’s life.  While relaxing she thought she smelled smoke. She quickly wrapped a towel around herself and sprinted to the master bedroom to wake her husband Chris (CJ).  Chris investigated and noticed a waft of smoke coming from the garage door, upon opening the door he was greeted by a blast of hot air and their garage engulfed in flames, he slammed the door and by this time the smoke was already building up in the house. They then grabbed their 5 yr. old son Edward from his bed and sprinted out the door.  They made refuge in their truck to stay warm and called the Fire Department while Chris reentered their family home to save their pet dogs and cats.  Chris made another heroic run into the engulfed home to save a few family heirlooms and sentimental items then waited in the truck with his cold family for help to arrive.

Even though the Fire Department arrived quickly their family home was a complete and total loss.  The areas of the home not taken by the flames are badly water and smoke damaged, their family home they have lived in since they were married is not salvageable.

The Kjetlands got out with little more than the pajamas on their backs, but most importantly they had each other, the only lives lost were a few family cats that were keeping warm in the garage.

This Go Fund Me was organized by Kelly Van Duyn, a long time family friend to benifit the Chris and Stephanie Kjetland family.  The funds will be used by Chris and Stephanie to help with the recovery process to replace the belongings of their home, they are setup as the beneficiaries of this campaign.

Thank you for considering giving to a family that would do anything to help someone else, it is time for us to help them.
