Kennedy "KJ" Jones was invited to represent the US on a team going to Jakarta, Indonsia for the All-Female Colt World Series this summer. This is not only an opportunity of a life time, but this is her dream to blaze the trail of females playing baseball.
Kennedy dreamed of playing baseball as a child. She began playing at the age of 7 and has not stopped. Kennedy has dealt with opposition of being female and playing a male game, dealt with harsh words both from inside and outside the dugout, but has stayed resolute in her dream.
This past year has been particularly challenging. Kennedy began high school with the dream of playing baseball, but her requests to attend tryouts were ignored by the coaches. Kennedy decided that rather than force the law, she would continue playing with her rec team and try out for the high school softball team. She is currently playing for both the JV and Varsity teams, and she is having a great time!
But, being invited to play for a team representing women on a global level is a magnificent opportunity for Kennedy. Please help her continue to live her dream at a time when it is so important to empower women to speak their voices and persevere.
