Help Kizito's Family Rebuild Their Home
Donation protected
In 2010, I bicycled the length of Africa, passing through Malawi on my journey. We stopped one night in Chitimba Beach, which is where I met Kizito. He was a wonderful young wood carver, making beautiful pieces and selling them at his shop. We have kept in touch over the years, and as best I could, I have helped him and his family on several occasions: putting a new roof on his house, starting a small farming operation, and making repairs to his shop after a fire. A month ago, Kizito reached out to me, sharing photos of his property and house where he, his mother, wife, nephew, and kids all live together. The river, once a fair distance from their house, due to massive rains, had begun eroding the ground day by day, and eventually now has washed their home completely away. Before this happened, all windows and roofing materials were removed to help with constructing their new home, safely away from the river.
Kizito and I did the math, and he decided that around $2,100 would be enough to get all the necessary materials together to help build their new home. I think if it's possible for those of us who are, relatively speaking, financially stable and able to help those in need, why give only what meets the minimum for a family to literally get back on stable footing when we can do more to help them thrive. That is my goal here; to raise a minimum of $4,000 to help Kizito and his family rebuild their home, and hopefully have additional funds to help them continue to prosper in such a beautiful land.
Will you help us?
