Hi its me again, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support so far, it means the world to me and Kiyo. We get a chance to share a great life for the past year eventhough there is some surgery last summer for pyometra but now I have an urgent update on her condition.

Kiyo's health has taken a serious turn. She is now in the ICU for the past day and will still need to stay longer, since she now has fluid buildup in her lungs and chest cavity and has been placed in an oxygen cage to help her breathe since her oxygen capability was only at 60%. I initially noticed that she had lose her appetite just drinking water and just hid in the litter I tried to get her vet appointment on Monday but they only have an appointment available on Tuesday. On monday I noticed that her breathing kida off and she looks very frail and fatique. After the vet visit they told us to go to the ER right away.

This new development has put her at a very high risk of heart failure. As a result, her medical bills have now exceeded $10,000 as shown below.

I have already spent over $5,500 of my personal savings and with you all help before her hospitalization (pyometra and hyperthyroid) and despite working three jobs while studying on a scholarship as an international student from Thailand, these costs continue to rise. We do not know how long she needs to recover and be in the oxygen cage. Kiyo is not just my pet, she’s my only family here in New York. Her comforting presence has been my anchor in this foreign land, helping me navigate my life despite being far from home.
I am desperately reaching out for further help to cover her urgent medical needs. Every donation, no matter how small, goes directly toward her care-covering her oxygen therapy, fluid drainage, medications, and continuous monitoring in the ICU.

Hopefully, she will be better and I will be able to have medication for her heart and able to come home with me. I still have faith in her recovery. and I just wish she could be back home with me and lay on my face and meow at me all day again.

On my end, I have been trying to apply for as many grants that we eligible for. Every donation, no matter the how much, bring her a step closer to home. Thank you for your kindness and for sharing our story. Your continued support gives Kiyo a fighting chance, and I will keep you updated every step of the way.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Proud

Hi there! My name is Proud, and I'm a graduate school student. I want to share Kiyo's story with you. Kiyo was found by a friend on the curbside, narrowly escaping a car accident. We realized that she might be partially blind due to the circumstances of her rescue which was later on confirmed by the vet. Though we're unsure of her exact age, she's estimated to be around 5-7 years old.

Kiyo arrived with matted fur, indicating neglect, and her first night with us was rough. She overate and vomited due to hunger. Based on her condition we thought she might have been through abuse or been on the street in the winter for a while. With her blindness, she would hiss and flinch every time we tried to pet her but never once hurt us with her teeth or claw. Despite our efforts to find her shelter, none of the no-kill were available. So, I decided to adopt her and give her a loving home.

Despite her health struggles, Kiyo is a sweetheart. She's adapted well to her blindness and remains affectionate. She's cooperative during baths no scratches and no screams. She quickly learned to use a stepping stool to access my bed and would come up on my bed in the morning and at night for me to brush her, she loves brushing very much.

Health Challenges
Recently, Kiyo's appetite has decreased significantly to about a tablespoon per day even though I have hanged to wet food and have food for her at all times. She's developed a bald spot and moewing very vocally at night which has raised concerns about her health. Her weight loss of 2 lbs within weeks compounds our worries, especially as she's unable to receive necessary vaccinations. Turns out she has hyperthyroidism and needs further tests and medication. As of now, she urgently requires additional blood tests to address her health concerns and might have further extra tests and medication. Later, she still needs an ultrasound to determine if she'd been spayed, so she can be taken care of that as well. As a student, covering her medical expenses has become overwhelming.

Why your help matters
As a student living on scholarship, juggling a demanding course load and 2 campus jobs, my financial resources are severely limited, stretched, and thin. Unfortunately, The vet bill in NYC is pretty high even with the cheaper options. While I've been doing my best, I have been paying out of my savings around 1500$ to cover Kiyo's medical expenses alone. I fear that I won't be able to afford the essential care she needs to thrive. I'm reaching out for assistance to cover critical expenses such as her spaying, hyperthyroidism treatment and procedures, and vaccinations, which total around $3,000. Every contribution will go towards covering vet bills, purchasing necessary medications, and providing specialized care for her specific health conditions. The truth is, I'm uncertain about the full extent of her medical needs and how much it will ultimately cost to restore and improve her health condition. Your support will make a significant difference in Kiyo's journey towards recovery and well-being.

Further down the road
Rest assured, I'll keep you updated every step of the way on Kiyo's progress and how your contributions are being used. Any unused funds will be updated here and donated to the ASPCA, Humane Society, and BBAWC or as you recommended to help other pets in need.

Kiyo is my first pet, and I'm committed to giving her the best life possible. If, despite my efforts, the financial burden becomes too great, I'll ensure she finds a loving home that can meet her needs.

Thank you for taking the time to read Kiyo's story. Your generosity will make a world of difference to her. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to ensuring Kiyo's health and happiness.
