help kit move so they can get back on their feet
hi, i'm kit. i'm a (AuDHD & and other neuro things + genderqueer) bachelor's level social worker. i work with neurodivergent (and very often trans) kids and their families, supporting them in accessing resources and skills that work for them re: navigating the challenges of this world. some of this includes advocating against "treatments" that aren't appropriate or helpful (ABA, anyone?) whenever they come up, as well as educating my coworkers around population-specific topics i have expertise in.
long-term ripples from the pandemic and institutional f*ckery have put me in a very precarious financial situation. i currently owe months worth of back-rent and utilities, with no way to bootstrap my way out of this from my current situation. a group of friends and i are planning to get a place together, in the next month, in order to share expenses (etc), and this will help me get back on my feet.
the plan is for me to crash with them until we get a place (obviously, my landlord really wants me out of here). but i need to actually get my stuff out of my current apartment and into storage (paying for moving truck and storage unit, including all the other expenses of moving, plus keeping the utilities on until i'm out), and be able to afford short-term car rental (zipcar) to get to work (more on that in the extended version on mastodon, as i'm able to add to it).
to add to the already chaotic/volatile situation, i had taken this week off from work (unpaid, because i don't have paid time off at the moment) to pack and move and clean, but ended up spending most of it having to make the decision to euthanize my cat (and recovering from that). which, even aside from the (significant!) emotional impact, was an unexpected expense. i am overwhelmed AF, my coffers are very nearly empty, and it's down to the wire, so i fully appreciate any assistance y'all can give me. thank you. <3
