Help Kirsty Fight Stage 2 Breast Cancer in South Korea

From the UK, Fighting Far From Home
Hi, my name is Kirsty. I’m 30 years old, originally from the UK, and currently living and working in South Korea. I never imagined I’d be writing this, but I’ve been diagnosed with Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma, a type of breast cancer that is growing aggressively. My cancer’s Ki-67 index is at 50%, which means it's spreading fast and needs immediate treatment. This is due to my hormone levels being extremely high.
After consultations and medical testing here in South Korea, my doctors strongly advised against delaying surgery or trying to return to the UK. They’ve told me that flying home and entering the NHS waiting system would be extremely risky. With a cancer this aggressive, time is critical. Every day matters.
I’ve made the difficult decision to undergo surgery and treatment in South Korea, where I can get care right away — but unfortunately, the cost of that treatment is something that I need quickly. Luckily I have health insurance here until the end of June. When it comes to payments, you pay prior to treatment so there are no hidden costs. It’s overwhelming to navigate cancer, a foreign healthcare system, and financial stress all at once, but I’m trying to stay strong and positive.
Unfortunately, my school are only able to keep me on the insurance until the end of June and I can keep my housing here for one, possibly 2 months. So on top of medical fees, I also need to find a new place to live during this whole process.
I’m reaching out to ask for your support. Your donation will go toward:
1)Life-saving surgery
2)Post-operative treatment and medication
3)Hospital and diagnostic fees
4)Follow-up care during my recovery
5)Housing during my recovery.
This is the fight of my life, and your support — whether it’s a donation, a share, or kind words, it all means the world to me. Every little bit helps, and I promise to keep everyone updated every step of the way.
This is not something I ever imagined I'd be asking for, but I am eternally grateful to anyone who contributes or shares my post.
Anything after my treatment and once I am out of this I will donate anything else to a breast cancer charity.
Thank you so much,
much love,
Kirsty.
