Help Kirbi After A House Fire
Donation protected
On Monday, November 13 while Kirbi was at work at the food pantry, she received a text from her neighbor that her house was on fire. Fortunately her neighbor was able to retrieve her cat who was unharmed and call the fire department. At this time the house has been rendered uninhabitable, and Kirbi has had to scramble to find a temporary place for her, her son, and her cats to stay warm and safe, all right before Thanksgiving.
As we all know well, Kirbi Foster is a pillar of the Cortez and broader Four Corners community. She is well known and loved across the region for her dedication to food justice and community-building through her work at the Good Samaritan Food Pantry, Cortez Community Gardens, supporting local farmers and advocating for all people to have access to fresh, locally grown food, as well as being an all-around amazing human and dedicated single mom. During the most challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kirbi went to extraordinary lengths to get food to the people who needed it most across the entire region. She shows up for all of us.
And now is our opportunity to show up for her by making sure that she and her son have a safe, warm place and the funds they need to cover basic necessities (like temporary housing, replacement of their belongings, move-in expenses, etc.), while they find a permanent housing solution this holiday season.
Please give what you can - either through this gofundme or feel free to send a check or cash to PO Box 662, Cortez CO 81321.
Please also help us spread the word. We know she is connected to many different communities across the region (and beyond!) and well loved across each one. Thank you! <3
