Help Kiran Wagle Get Back on the Road

We are raising funds for Kiran Wagle's car and health issues.

As you may have heard, Kiran Wagle is having a hard time right now. He lives in his car and makes his living driving for Doordash, Instacart, etc. He's been in and out of the hospital the last few months and hasn't been able to earn much money. Now his car has broken down - it has a very bad coolant leak due to a head gasket issue. He can't live in it until it is repaired. As it turns out he also has pneumonia and is in the hospital AGAIN for about 5 days for intravenous antibiotics.

With help from Hobbit and Peter Olszowka, we got Kiran's car to Rick's mechanic. While Kiran's car is in very good shape for a 2013 Prius, the best solution according to the mechanic (and others) is a replacement used engine. (Trying to replace just the head gasket would involve taking the engine apart and machining the engine and hoping it still doesn't leak. That would also be significantly more labor and would take more days.) Rick's mechanic has a line on a relatively low mileage engine with a warranty. It is going to cost about $6000 to buy the engine and install it and fix some other minor things on the car (broken window). Rick fully trusts his mechanic who has also done work for other people in fandom. If we do this, Kiran's car should be good for many more miles.

In addition, Kiran's monthly expenses are about $600 per month. We would like to fundraise three months worth of cushion to give to Kiran if he needs it because he needs to go into the hospital again and can't work or something similar. Peter Olszowka will hold the cushion if we get it. If Kiran doesn't need the cushion now, he's going to need it eventually.

In addition GFM takes about 3%.

So we are trying to raise about $8000 ($6000 + $1800 + GFM fees). We really need the $6000 now. If we get the $6000 we can have Kiran's car back on the road in about a week when he gets out of the hospital.
