Help Kira Live Upright Again

Donation protected

This is my friend Kira Miron. She is one of the strongest people I know.

Kira and I have been friends since we were born, the friend I can call ANYTIME knowing she will listen with a caring heart, even after months of not talking we can pick up where we left off. I’m so grateful for her constant friendship.

In December of 2019 Kira began feeling unwell. She had her first episode of violent vertigo when she had a virus. Within the last 17 months her symptoms have worsened to the point where she spends 20 to 24 hours a day laying totally flat, sometimes with a pillow to prop her head. Kira constantly feels like she is on a turbulent airplane. A sensation hard for me to understand but described by her as tipping/ rocking/ bobbing and vibrating, leaving her feeling dizzy and nauseous 24/7. She also currently gets terrible pressure at the back of her head, (feeling almost like her brain is falling out) mostly occurring when she is upright. Her list of symptoms is so long I can’t even remember them all; the neck pain, ear pressure, mostly when the barometric pressure drops, plugged and ringing ears, migraine and/or headaches and vomiting. Kira has been an incredible self advocate especially in the midst of a worldwide pandemic! She has exhausted Canadian and American doctors, Neurologists, Osteopath, Ear, Nose & Throat Specialists, Psychologists, Chiropractor, NUCCA Chiropractor, Massage Therapy, Acupuncture, Audiologist as well as received three MRI’s, vestibular therapy, blood patch and countless number of various other treatments. She has not given up. Kira is currently on a TWO YEAR waitlist for the Chronic Conditions Clinic in Vancouver.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to be chronically ill; unable to take care of my family, run in the yard with my kids, ride a bike, make meals, clean my home and do all the things I do daily that I don’t even think twice about! Kira, l believe in you!

On May 8th Kira is travelling to Chicago to the Neurologic Wellness Institute for rehab! She will be accompanied by her mom who will assist her in travelling and care while there as well during quarantine upon return to Canada. After a telephone consult with the doctor, she seems to have post-viral dysautonomia or more specifically “positional symptoms without tachycardia” …basically viruses can really screw with your nervous system!! The doctor in Chicago has successfully treated patients with similiar and/or the same symptoms that Kira has experienced and still deals with today. We are hopeful that these sessions will help Kira to live upright, enjoying life differently than she does today.

Join me in raising $15,000 before Kira leaves to help her live upright again! The money we raise together will help ease the financial burden for Kira and Brock. It will cover her two week stay in the United States while she receives treatment, meals, costs of childcare for Bo, extra time off that Brock has to take off work, as well as the cost of treatment itself! Let’s support the Miron family as they continue their journey in NOT GIVING UP. Whether that be through financial support, meals you’ve provided, childcare or prayer; let’s continue to be the community they need. Your support, in any way is SO appreciated and does not go unnoticed!!

Together we can build Kira up!
